The principal of a Colorado middle school apologized to parents after a drag queen spoke at the school.

As part of career day, a drag queen who goes by the name Jessica L'Whor, was invited to speak. Staff at Rocky Top Middle School in Thornton believed the guest would show diversity in the community and inclusion no matter who a person dresses.

L'Whor told CBS Denver that she believed it would be controversial, especially since nothing like this would have happened when she was in middle school.

The principal sent a note to parents apologizing for not informing them of the guest beforehand so they could decide if their child would participate.

L'Whor, who performs in drag for a living and introduced to students as Ms. Jessica, didn't perform for the students. She decided to read a piece from Horrible Harry which deals with bullying.

Moving forward, the district said it will notify parents of future speakers, and give them the opportunity to allow their child to participate.
