Colorado Mask Mandate to be Extended by Governor Polis

Since March it feels like our whole world has been upside down with so many people without jobs and kids learning from home. We have all been asked to practice social distancing and to wash our hands and wear face masks, it has become the new normal, and it seems like it won't be going away anytime soon.

The Governor of Colorado Jared Polis is expected to make an announcement today which will extend the statewide mask mandate for the entire state of Colorado, according to the Denver Post.

The order first began back on July 16th and was set for one month, which required all people over the age of 11 years old to wear a mask or face covering when in public indoor spaces, including retails shopping areas. There are more than 30 U.S. states that are using these same guidelines.

When this order was put into place last month our numbers in Colorado were on the rise for coronavirus cases and virus-related hospital visits. But when looking at the numbers now our infection rate was higher in the initial months of March and April.

There is no word on how long this new order will stay in place but we should learn more from our Governor later today. As mentioned before wearing a mask is almost the new normal, everyone has one in their car, we will just need to remember to keep one with us as we continue to move forward.

Fingers crossed we can move through this phase and get closer to the normal that we used to know.
