25 Wild Colorado Horses to be Removed From Private Land and Sold

The Bureau of Land Management announced plans to gather and remove approximately 25 wild horses from private land in Moffat County.

They plan to use a bait-trapping technique that uses hay and water to capture the wild horses from the Sand Wash Basin Herd Management Area.

Currently the horses are on private land about six miles outside of the protected area.

The BLM’s wild horse management responsibilities under the 1971 Wild Free Roaming Horses and Burro Act include removing wild horses that are impacting private land, according to Craig Press.

Once captured, the wild horses will be taken to a BLM facility in Rock Springs and be made available for adoption or sale, according to Craig Press.
