The accident occurred when a 2002 Ford F-350 pickup truck struck a 1998 Ford Explorer driven by Tiffany Burke, 27, who was carrying the two children.

Burke turned left off of southbound South County Road 9 in front of the truck, which was driving eastbound on Carpenter Road.

The truck driver has been identified as 33-year-old Elvis Guerrero.

According to the Larimer County Coroner's Office, Santos died of blunt-force trauma, as he was not restrained in the vehicle. It is not known whether or not the second child was restrained.

Burke was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, although her condition remains unknown. Guerrero did not suffer any injuries in the crash.
