Spring Fling First Fundraiser to Help Open YMCA in the Grand Valley
In an effort to get a community and recreation center in the Grand Valley, a group is working with YMCA to make it a reality.
Spring Fling is the first fundraiser for YMCA of the Grand Valley. The event is designed to raise seed money needed to move forward with planning and opening of a YMCA.
The family-themed event is Sunday, April 30 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in downtown Palisade. A donation of $25 per family of four or $7 singles is requested.
Spring Fling will feature food and beverage including beer. Entertainment includes Jack + Jill and Coral Skye who will be performing at the event.
Another part of the fundraiser is a cornhole tournament with $250 in gift cards and certificates awarded. Cost is $40 per team. Call 970-901-1342 to register or for more information
Following the tournament, the cornhole boards, painted by local artists, will be auctioned off. Bids for the boards will be taken throughout the event.
YMCA focuses on three things which are youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
There are several YMCA locations in Colorado, none of those west of the Rocky Mountains making the possibility of a 'Y' on the Western Slope very exciting to those involved.
