Around 10 a.m. on Monday, October 21, a resource officer at the Grand Junction High School responded to a radio call for help on the south lawn of the school.

A juvenile male was discovered in the area with apparent stab wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.

A juvenile female suspect was still on the scene and taken into custody.

The victim and suspect knew one another and both parents were contacted.

Grand Junction High School was placed on lockdown, then transitioned to shelter-in-place. Authorities remain on the scene to complete the investigation and process the crime scene.

Despite rumors, there were no guns used in the incident.

According to authorities, there aren't any remaining threats to the school or its students.
