It's so easy to take for granted when you grow up in Wyoming around it, but some of our most iconic wildlife has been captured in pictures by the National Park Service.

I've included some of the best pictures shared by National Park Service photographer Jane Gamble here, but the truth is you can search for any American place, animal or landmark and find it in the pictures they've collected.

I know I've been guilty of taking it for granted, but it's something that shouldn't happen. Our wildlife and landmarks are something to cherish and document every chance we get.

Today these parks are located throughout the country in 25 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The land encompassing them was either purchased or donated, though much of it had been inhabited by native people for thousands of years before the founding of the United States. These areas are protected and revered as educational resources about the natural world, and as spaces for exploration.
