A long stand-off at a local hotel late Wednesday ended peacefully and resulted in the arrest of a Grand Junction man.

According to Grand Junction Police, the incident took place at a hotel in the 2700 block of Crossroads Boulevard and ended with the arrest of 41-year-old Bucky Burke of Grand Junction.

Local authorities received a 9-1-1 call just after 11:00 pm Wednesday reporting that a man, Bucky Burke, wanted on multiple warrants, was at the hotel. One of the warrants was reportedly related to a domestic violence incident, and the victim of that incident was staying at the hotel.

Officers set up a perimeter at the hotel and noticed a man matching the description of the suspect looking out the window. He refused to open the door and repeatedly told officers to go away. When police made phone contact with Burke, he reportedly made numerous threats saying he had explosives and that officers should evacuate the building. He also said he would get into a gunfight with police.

A number of rooms at the hotel were evacuated and the SWAT team was called in. After several hours of attempted negotiations, officers used force to breach the hotel room door and took Burke into custody without further incident.

Inside the room, police found another adult male- safe and uninjured. They also found a knife, several needles, prescription pills, and other drug paraphernalia.

Burke was remanded to the Mesa County Detention Facility on numerous charges including 1st-degree burglary, felony menacing, 2nd-degree kidnapping, false imprisonment, obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest, and criminal mischief.
