Formula One Champion Shumacher Injured in Ski Accident
A French hospital says retired Formula One champion Michael Schumacher is in critical condition after hitting his head during a skiing accident.
The Grenoble University Hospital Center says Schumacher arrived in a coma and underwent brain surgery after sustaining a serious head trauma.
The seven-time F1 champion driver fell while skiing in the French Alps earlier Sunday and was transported by helicopter to Grenoble.
Doctors say they cannot predict the outcome for Schumacher. Chief anesthesiologist Jean-Francois Payen told reporters Monday that the seven-time champion is still in a medically induced coma.
He says the medical team was not yet able to talk about outcomes; they were focusing only on his current condition.
