For a town of only 500, DeBeque sure does know how to put on a festival.

DeBeque Wild Horse Days is happening August 8-11 and they are packing the weekend as full as possible with fun times.

The weekend starts on Thursday with the Little Miss DeBeque and Little Mr. Buckaroo Contest for kids going into 1st or 2nd grade.

Things ramp up a bit on Friday with a Talent Show for all ages and then live music on the gazebo from 7pm-11pm.

Saturday is going to be one big, wild day in DeBeque from sun up to way past sundown

It all starts with breakfast from 7:30am-9am at the community center,  a parade at 9:30am, and a car show from 10am-3pm.

The day also includes mud runs, touch a truck, a burnout, a climbing wall, and a deluxe slip n slide/bounce house combo the kids are gonna love. Plus you've got the Wild Horse Chili Cook-off, Wild Horse Dessert Contest, and Wild Horse Salsa Contest, which I believe has to with what you do with chips, not something you do on the dance floor.

Throughout the day there is music going on with local talent starting at 11:00am, followed by the Troy Douglas Band at 1:30, Goodman Unplugged at 4:00, and then a street dance from 7pm-11pm featuring Lever Action, a country and southern rock band based in Rifle.

The weekend wraps up on Sunday with breakfast at 7:30, a community church service at 9 and bingo at 2:00.

So as you can see, DeBeque may be a small town but there is nothing small about DeBeque Wild Horse Days. I don't think they would mind if some out-of-town guests would stop by to enjoy some of the fun.
