Watch Colorado’s Wild Horses Have A Kicking Good Time

Have you seen the wild horses of Sand Wash Basin?

A lot of folks have seen the wild horses near Grand Junction, but not everyone has experienced the wild horses of Sand Wash Basin about 45 miles west of Craig.

The wild horses at Sand Wash Basin live on BLM land and anyone can visit the horses. There is no fee associated with visiting the wild horses, however, there are some limitations on when you can enter the basin. Primitive camping is permitted, just be sure and check on the rules and regulations before you go.

The roads are unimproved and unmaintained and consequently become very muddy during the spring rainy season. And once the snow arrives, deep and drifting snow can make it impossible to drive into the basin. You always need to check on the weather before visiting.

Thanks to Susan Hutchinson on YouTube, we get a fantastic, up-close look at some of the horses on the road. One moment they are kicking each other and the next they are nuzzling each other, acting just as sweet as can be. Horse love is strange.
