CPW Investigating Bear Attack That Injured Little Girl
The Colorado Parks and Wildlife is investigating a bear attack that injured a five-year-old girl in East Orchard Mesa.
According to the CPW, the mother of the victim woke up around 2:30 a.m. to screams from her daughter. When she went outside, she saw her daughter being dragged away by the bear. She told authorities, the bear dropped her daughter she started screaming.
Her mother said her daughter went outside because she heard noises and thought it was her dog.
The victim is at St. Mary's Hospital with serious injuries.
The CPW is actively tracking the bear with the help of the federal wildlife personnel. Residents may see heavy police activity in the area, including hounds.
Residents are asked to secure trash and keep pet food inside. They should also report any bear sightings immediately.
