Colorado Mesa University's Women's softball team ended the regular season with a record of 48-3 and are the hosts and number one seed for the first round of NCAA Division II games.

In the first game played in the South Central Softball Regional, the Lady Mavs defeated Rogers State 10-2 in six innings due to the mercy rule.

This is the first time CMU has hosted the regional tournament since 2000 and with the team playing the way they are, are favorites to advance to the next round as well.

CMU's next game is today vs Texas A&M Commerce, who won their first game as well.

The Mavs are led by pitcher Kimbri Herring, who ran her record to 22-1 on the season with a stellar performance and Brooke Hodgson, who continues to threaten the RBI record. Herring has driven in 103 runs on the season, 7 short of the NCAA Division II record.
