It never fails: everyone always has a story about stupid issues at the airport. There's not much that brings us together like our shared hatred of travel delays, is there? Nowhere is that more apparent than in the winter, when the delays become more frequent due to inclement weather.

With all the air travel horror stories from the holidays, I'm surprised it's taken me this long to really talk about it. It must have been because I was waiting for the pollsters and statisticians to do their work, since this foray into the trials of travel was instigated by a new study that found Colorado as one of the worst states for air travel in the winter.

Citing stats from a new study, Western Slope Now reports than there are three Colorado airports that were among the top ranked in the nation for percentage of flights delayed due to severe winter weather. Topping the overall list was Pitkin County Airport in Aspen, which saw a whopping 35% of its flights delayed. They were followed closely by Vail's Eagle County Regional with 22%. Apparently, those are the most winter weather delays in the country. Hooray!

Shockingly absolutely nobody who has flown in Colorado before, Denver International claims the number 2 spot on the list of major airports, with about 14% of DIA flights cancelled in favor of a snow day. Again, problems at the Denver airport are not new, nor are conspiracy theories, some of which you can check out in the gallery below.
