College Football Playoff and ESPN Announce Start Times for New Year’s Bowls
The College Football Playoff (CFP) will own the holiday season on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day as it enters its second year, with ESPN televising all the games.
The CFP today announced the December 31 playoff semifinals at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic and Capital One Orange Bowl will begin at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., Eastern Time. The CFP will announce the sequence of those two games on December 6. The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl will begin at noon that day.
The CFP will kick off the New Year with the Fiesta Bowl at 1 p.m. Fans can then tune in for the Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual at 5 p.m., followed by the Allstate Sugar Bowl at 8:30 p.m.
The CFP selection committee will choose the four participants and will determine matchups for the semifinal games being hosted at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl and Capital One Orange Bowl on Selection Day, Sunday, December 6.
ESPN will announce additional programming surrounding all the bowls at a later date. The complete schedule follows:
