An area in Denver near I-25 and I-170 that used to be a printing facility for the Denver Post newspaper, will become a 40+ acre community, including World Trade Center Denver.

By sometime in 2024 the landscape of the Denver Metro will be changing again, with this new "FoxPark Denver" development. It will have many things, including Virgin Hotels' first Colorado hotel, and the home of the World Trade Center.

Call me sensitive and cynical, but when I hear "World Trade Center," I still flash back to September 11, 2001. I can only imagine that there are others that get a chill, like myself, when they find that there's a World Trade Center in Denver. Sure, the terrorist attack was over 20 years ago, but it still haunts.

FoxPark will be a great addition to Denver, I'm sure, putting together a mix of open space, culture and commerce into one community area. Part of the project involves transforming what used to be the Denver Post's printing building (32,000 sq. ft.) into the headquarters for World Trade Center.

WHAT IS THIS 'WORLD TRADE CENTER?'

From their website:

World Trade Center Denver is a business network and services organization dedicated exclusively to the international business success of companies based in Colorado and the surrounding Rocky Mountain region.

No need to call New York or fly to Chicago, you get face-to-face access to world-class global resources right here in your own backyard. Our sole purpose is to help local companies succeed internationally. Global commerce isn’t just one of the things we do, it’s the only thing we do.

The new, official, location will be in the heart of the Globeville neighborhood of Denver, where once there was the Globe Smelting Company. Many immigrants, from across the world, made their way to the area to work at that factory, back then. I believe "Global Trade Center" would be a very apt name for World Trade Center, but I'm not on the board, there. I'm sure meetings were held, and they all agreed that the name was fine.

Suffice it to say, there's going to be big development right off of I-25 and I-70 in the next couple of years that will have people asking, "What is that?"

That's the World Trade Center.

World Trade What? Nope.
