How many cars would a woodchuck burn if a woodchuck could burn cars? Answer: one. A woodchuck is a prime suspect in a case involving a torched car in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

According to the Vail Daily, a woodchuck was "seen fleeing the scene" when a Toyota 4Runner's engine compartment caught fire.

They vehicle had been purchased from a ranch last Thursday, May 18. The new owner was en route to the Department of Motor Vehicles when the fire occurred. The driver was able to escape the vehicle without harm.

The woodchuck, however, was not so fortunate. According to Steamboat Today, an employee of the paper spotted the woodchuck, and it was "later apprehended." The animal was suffering from severe burns and had to be euthanized.
