Why You Need to Check Out this Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival in Loveland
The 12th Annual Pastels on 5th is happening in Downtown Loveland September 10 from 10am-5pm.
"Tuned In to NoCo" was able to speak with Pastels on 5th Event Director and Founder, Vicky Paul-Bryant, who says the event will feature incredible sidewalk chalk art from local and nonlocal artists.
"The focal point of the event is the incredible artwork created right on the sidewalk by over 150 artists from all over Colorado. These are professional, amateur and student artists who participate...We basically turn 5th Street in Downtown Loveland into a huge and colorful sidewalk gallery."
With live music, art, vendors, handmade goods and a kids art area, Paul-Bryant says they have a little something for everyone, and you'll even be able to cast your vote for your favorite piece of art at the festival.
"Come join us, watch the artists in action, listen to the live music. You can shop for Christmas gifts early in the marketplace and vote for your favorite art work...You can vote in-person or online. We will have a full week where people can look at the artwork on 5th Street or online in our gallery, and then we will announce the People's Choice winner that Sunday. We also have juried awards. So, at the event we have judges walking around looking at all of the artwork and at 4:30pm we will announce their choices..."
Here's a look at last year's festival
Paul-Bryant says this great family-friendly event highlights Loveland's internationally renowned arts community, and their goal this year is to raise $50,000 for Alternatives to Violence.
"Alternatives to Violence is a non-profit in Loveland that provides shelter, advocacy, education and resources for people impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. So, they do incredibly important and amazing work in our community."
