What? Kechter Bridge Over I-25 to Close for Over 6 Months
The major I-25 North Express Lanes Project will be shutting down another road to make improvements. Until the improvements are done, it's a full closure of Kechter.
Kechter Road is one of those roads that many use, but few talk about; like it's a little secret. It leads you out onto I-25 as you head eastbound, as well as taking you into Timnath. You can't exit from I-25 onto Kechter; that's part of the beauty of it.
Colorado Department of Transportation's I-25 North Express Lanes Project, on October 1, 2021, will institute a full shutdown of Kechter Road to replace the bridge over I-25. They'll be widening I-25 with the project, so the Kechter bridge needs to be wider.
In addition, they'll be putting in a roundabout (that they love so much, these days) sidewalks, a pedestrian crossing, and better bike lanes. It really will be nice.
The roundabout will make it much easier for westbound traffic to access I-25. They have roundabouts like this along the I-25 North Express Lanes Project, already; at Highway 402 and I-25.
Detours will be in place to take traffic to County Road 5:
This phase of the project is expected to last into the spring of 2022, seven months.
Seven months is a long time to be without that little secret road. Get more on the project from CDOT HERE.
