If you want the experience of a mountain getaway, but prefer to stay close to home, a good option is Trappers Lake Lodge in Garfield County.

Less than three hours from Grand Junction, Trappers Lake is a great mountain getaway offering fishing, hiking, horseback riding, and plenty of fresh Colorado mountain air.

Trappers Lake Lodge sits a short drive or hike from the lake, along with a number of campground options. The cabins are quite comfortable, just don't expect Holiday Inn. Real toilets, sinks, and showers are located in the bathhouse, centrally located on the property. That means a short walk for those that find the need to get up in middle of the night.

One of the best features of the lodge is no cell service. Imagine 24 or 48 hours of absolutely no messages, emails, or phone calls. It is really quite wonderful. If you like to hike you might spot some wildlife including deer, moose, and marmots

The lodge has a restaurant and offers some basic necessities for sale, along with souvenirs, and beverages.

To get to Trappers Lake Lodge, take CO- 13 out of Rifle to Meeker. About a mile east of Meeker turn right on County Road 8 and travel 39 miles.
