Two avalanches in the Colorado high country occurred on Friday, January 8; One was snowmobile triggered, while the other was human triggered, Colorado Avalanche Information Center - CAIC posted on Facebook.

'The chance of triggering an avalanche is not going down, but the consequences of getting caught in one are going up,' CAIC said.

Those who recreate in snowy areas in the mountains are asked to choose terrain carefully and always check avalanche forecasts. While no one was seriously injured, both events required search and rescue efforts.
