The Coldest High Temps for February in Fort Collins Over the Last 25 Years
During February, we are right in the heart of winter where the temperatures can drop quicker than slipping on ice. Since 1997, The Choice City has seen its share of cold days in February.
With February being the 'Month of Love' you have to wonder how many really 'love' cold days in February. I, for one, am not a fan. I think it goes back to just one day in elementary school at Lincoln Elementary in Loveland. We were out at recess and I didn't have my gloves (dumb kid.) I remember being very, very miserable. It was probably a February day.
I also remember 2021, when one day in February I battled not only a bad car battery, but also a bad tire. That bad day was horrendously worse wit the temps only reaching into the single digits. No amount of layering was going to warm me up that day.
Sure, a lot of folks like their bedrooms cold at night to help them sleep. I miss the days of waterbeds; they were also so warm, especially on a cold February night. These days, I enjoy flannel sheets and a good, heavy blanket along with a comforter. Also, the window stays shut. Keep that frigidness outside.
Over the last 25 years, Fort Collins has seen some pretty pleasant Februarys. Some years saw high temperatures reach into the 70's. That just seems crazy to me. However, The Choice City has also seen some 'nasty cold' days, with highs only in the single digits.
Let's take a look.
