Over the weekend, 18 dogs from Texas took up residence in Grand Junction and they are ready to be adopted into new homes.

Grand Junction Welcomes Texas Dogs

Palm Valley Animal Society, an animal shelter in Edinburg, Texas cares for about 20,000 pets every year - which is s huge amount. Roice-Hurst Humane Society in Grand Junction is helping the shelter by making some of their dogs available here in the Grand Valley.

Over the weekend, 18 dogs were flown into Grand Junction by an organization called Dog is My CoPilot, whose mission is to transport at-risk dogs in overpopulated areas to communities where they have a better chance of being adopted. Today, for the pets of the week, we are featuring three of the adorable arrivals that are hoping to find a new home soon in Colorado.

Ariel is four years old and has Texas-sized ears, but a huge personality to match. She is very energetic and playful but also enjoys lounging around. She seems to get along well with other dogs and she is ready for a family of her own.

Tilly is just 10 months old and full of energy. She is playful and is a real sweetheart. Her favorite activity is playing with other dogs and running around the yard. She would do good with an active family and would be okay with other dogs in the house.

Hagrid is a sweet 4-year-old dog and at 30 pounds is a comfortable size for those who don't want a large dog. She is full of energy and loves to play. She is friendly with other dogs, but a little picky with others so she might be best in a one-dog home.
