Ed Carpenter has won the Indianapolis 500 pole for the second straight year, grabbing the top spot for this year's race by posting a four-lap average of 231.067 mph.
The new qualifying format for the Indianapolis 500 will include three rounds over two days and the pole-winner will be decided on what used to be Bump Day.
