The 3 Things You’re Going to Want to Do For St. Paddy’s Day in Fort Collins
"Sláinte" means "Health" in Irish and Scottish Gaelic. You may not know how to pronounce it, but that doesn't matter when it comes to St. Patrick's Day fun in Fort Collins.
With St. Patrick's Day falling on a Friday for 2023, it looks like many will be spending at least one day celebrating. You could even start celebrating nearly a week early, if you so choose. Why not?
Boston and Chicago immediately come to mind when you think of "Big" St. Paddy's Day celebrations. The Choice City's celebrations may not be even close to Boston and Chicago, but we do find a way to have fun. It's not all about drinking dubious amounts of whiskey and green beer, either.
HOW DO YOU SAY SLAINTE?
To pronounce the traditional Irish/Scottish version of "Cheers," Sláinte, you say: "Slawn-cha." Go ahead and practice that a bit before you head out for any of the St. Paddy's Day festivities you may be attending, It's part of the fun.
It's a common phrase: "Everybody is Irish on St. Patrick's Day." We say that because everybody likes to have fun and you don't need to have Irish heritage to do so. We throw on some green garments, and head out the door ready to take on the world. We get a little loud, because that's an "Irish" thing, we drink, because that's an "Irish" thing, and try not to get into a fight, which is an Irish stereotype. Right?
