There have been six Colorado people killed by police shootings in only five days. Officials are hoping that this is not a trend.

From June 30 through July 4, Colorado police officers have been involved in six different cases where a suspect has been shot and killed by an officer. Here is a quick breakdown of each incident.

  • June 30 - 32-year-old Stephanie Lopez was shot and killed by police officers after her and an accomplice carjacked a resident and then took police on a high-speed chase through Littleton, Englewood and finally Denver. Some witnesses say Lopez shot at officers, but police can not confirm that at this time.
  • June 30 - In Larimer County, Chet Knuppel was fatally shot in the chest after he stole a car, crashed it and then fled the scene. The shooting happened at Colorado 392 and Larimer Road 9.
  • June 30 - After resisting arrest and running, police officers in Westminster shot and killed Brett Rodriguez. Officials stated that Rodriguez had warrants out for his arrest and when he ran, he also displayed a weapon to the officers.
  • July 1 - Jeremy Holmes, 19, had been reported as a threat who was armed near the campus of Colorado State University. Fort Collins police, along with CSU police responded, fatally shooting Holmes multiple times.
  • July 4 - A Police officer in Federal Heights was called on the scene when a woman reported a man in her apartment complex. No name was given, but he was a fugitive parolee. Police ordered him to surrender, he did not and began to flee. He may or may not have had a weapon.
  • July 4 - A domestic violence call brought in Montezuma County deputies to the scene. 53-year-old Tyrone Peabody burst out of the house, brandishing a rifle and began to fire at the deputies.

All cases are currently under review.
