The third Mesa County school to close due to illness, Rocky Mountain Elementary will close on Wednesday, November 20.

Cleaning crews worked to give Rocky Mountain Elementary additional disinfecting Monday and will get more tonight. District 51 says they believe closing the school Wednesday will help minimize spreading.

According to District 51, the Mesa County Public Health thinks this could be a norovirus the closed the other two area schools, Palisade High School and Mt. Garfield Middle School.

The district hopes to reopen Rocky Mountain Thursday, November 21.

Families who are dual immersion, if your student gets picked up at Rocky Mountain Elementary, they will still be bussed from Rocky Mountain. The schedule will run as normal. Students will not be allowed in the school, however.
