A Western Colorado photo contest could put your dog in the 2019 calendar- Dogs of the NCAs.

The Colorado Canyons Association is putting together the 2019 calendar featuring photos of dogs in western Colorado's national conservation areas.(NCAs)

The main stipulation is that the pictures be taken from one of these three NCAs.

*McInnis Canyons (West of Grand Junction and Fruita)
*Dominguez-Escalante (Between Grand Junction and Delta)
*Gunnison Gorge (North of Montrose, east of Delta)

The photos will be judged on the "depiction of the place, and the portrayed character of the pup." A portion of the proceeds from the 2019 calendar will help support the land and stewardship work in the NCAs.

One of the reasons for a dog calendar is that the National Conservation Areas are the only permanently protected areas that allow dogs, so they make for a great place to go hiking with your best friend.

You can get more information about the photo contest here, but keep in mind the deadline is fast-approaching - midnight August 10.

By the way, the accompanying photo is my best friend, Frisco, and she LOVES to hike in western Colorado.
