Recent snow and colder temperatures call for opening early.

With nearly 4 feet of snow already on the ground Vail, Beaver Creek, and Monarch Mountain ski resorts plan to open early. Their original opening day for the 2018-19 ski and snowboard season was scheduled for this Friday but now Vail says they'll open on Wednesday, November, 14th at 9 AM!

Beaver Creek is opening early too. Their original date was for the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, now they say they'll open this Saturday the 17th. Monarch Mountain was looking at a Wednesday the 21st opening but they too have now moved up to this Friday the16th.

These rescheduled opening days are the earliest is quite some time. "This is the first time we’ve been able to open both resorts early in more than 10 years. We owe a big thank you to our mountain operations teams for their hard work in making this possible for our loyal guests and season pass holders," says Vail Chief Operating Officer, Doug Lovell.
