A  new mile-long mountain coaster is coming to Colorado later this year.

The alpine coaster will be located at Copper Mountain Resort

The White River National Forest this week authorized improvements at Copper Mountain, including the new mountain coaster.

The track will be 5280 feet long, with a total descent of around 4,000 feet, and a vertical drop of 430 feet. By contrast, the alpine coaster at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is 3400 feet. The new coaster will run during the winter and the summer and is expected to be completed by late summer or early fall. This sounds like it could be a whole lot of fun!

A one-mile intermediate mountain biking trail is also part of the ski area projects that will be constructed, so it will be a new challenge for biking enthusiasts.

Copper Mountain is making itself even more attractive to non-skiers offering tubing, ice skating, mountain biking, and now an alpine coaster.
