Take a Virtual Trip Up Colorado’s Newest Incline Steps
Colorado is known as an outdoor playground for a variety of reasons. There are countless examples of the state's natural beauty, but outdoors enthusiasts, especially those who enjoy vigorous exercise, also enjoy some of the manmade marvels that the Centennial State has to offer.

One of the most vigorous exercises that combines both natural and manmade elements in Colorado is the famous Manitou Incline, a massive hiking trail that goes straight up a mountain with a whopping 2,768 steps.

However, as of just a handful of years ago, Colorado is home to a new, much more beginner-friendly version known as the Rueter-Hess Incline.
Colorado's Rueter-Hess Incline
Just outside of Parker, Colorado, is where you'll find the Rueter-Hess Incline, a 132-step baby brother of the famous Manitou Incline.
This particular incline is open to the public as long as the sun is up and is free to visit. Or, in some cases, conquer.
The trip up the incline sees an increase in elevation of roughly 232 feet and offers magnificent views of Pikes Peak, Longs Peak, Parker, and Hess Reservoir at the top.
While the trails that lead to the Rueter-Hess Incline are pet-friendly, your furry friends are not allowed to take on the incline via the manmade steps.
Despite the Rueter-Hess Incline being a much more tame challenge than the Manitou Incline, it's still recommended that climbers are prepared with water and anticipate the sudden rise in elevation.
