Advancements in technology continuously change the world around us at a rapid rate, but other things like fashion, music, and even laws have seen drastic changes as well.

One example of a law that is significantly different compared to the 1980s is the minimum age required to consume alcohol and as you'll see below, Colorado had one of the most lenient requirements around.

If you'll notice, Colorado's minimum drinking age was 18 at the time, lower than each of its neighboring states.

In fact, the only other states with such a low drinking age in 1983 were Wisconsin, Michigan, Mississippi, Louisiana, Vermont, and Hawaii.

If we look at Colorado's neighboring states, Wyoming and Arizona were only slightly more strict than the Centennial State with a minimum drinking age of 19, while Kansas separated minimum drinking ages into two categories depending on the alcohol content at either 18 or 21 years of age.

Nebraska was a bit of an outlier at the time with a minimum drinking age of 20, while Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Utah all have kept a minimum drinking age of 21 all these years.
