These Colorado Counties Each Have More People Than the Entire State of Wyoming
Despite being almost the same size and shape, Colorado and Wyoming are vastly different when it comes to population. In fact, with a reported 587,618 people in 2024, Wyoming is the least populated state in the country, and this meager figure seems even smaller when compared to Colorado's 5.957 million residents.

Not only is Colorado's population significantly greater than that of Wyoming, but there are actually at least three counties in Colorado that each boast a higher population than the entire state of Wyoming.
Colorado Counties with More People than Wyoming: Denver County
The smallest county in area in Colorado, Denver County, essentially contains the Denver Metro area and none of the city's suburbs like Arvada, Englewood, Aurora, etc.
While small in area, Denver County's population was reported as 716,577 as recently as 2023.
Colorado Counties with More People than Wyoming: Arapahoe County
Speaking of Denver suburbs, Arapahoe County borders Denver County to the south and the east and encompasses cities like Aurora, Littleton, and Centennial.
In 2023, Arapahoe County's population was reported as being 656,061.

Colorado Counties with More People than Wyoming: El Paso County
South of the Denver Metro area, we find the second-largest city in Colorado, Colorado Springs. Colorado Springs is located in El Paso County, which also encompasses nearby Monument, Manitou Springs, and Fountain.
As of 2023, El Paso County was home to 744,215 residents.
Honorable Mention: Jefferson County, Colorado
To the west of Denver County, we have Jefferson County, which encompasses the cities of Golden, Arvada, Westminster, Lakewood, and the home of Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Morrison.
While some sources list Jefferson County as having a higher population than Wyoming, as of 2023, it was just shy of the latest figures from Wyoming at a reported 576,366 residents.
