However, Coloradans who have gotten to know the beloved outdoor mall over the years may be in for a surprise as the 16th Street Mall will be getting a bit of a facelift in the near future, which isn't necessarily sitting well with everyone.
Colorado's Iconic 16th Street Mall Will Get a Controversial Facelift Soon
According to Denver's FOX31 News, the Mile High City has approved over $1.6 million to pay for a company known as Poetic Kinetics Inc. to put together an art installation as part of a massive effort to revitalize the 16th Street Mall.

While the past several years have seen an influx of crime, homelessness, and drug use on the popular stretch of 16th Street, enough of which has motivated the city of Denver to spend millions on the upcoming revitalization project, the aforementioned art installation isn't necessarily sitting well with everyone.
This particular project will see the mall covered with artificial leaves to give the illusion that those enjoying a stroll down the closed-off street are walking in an Aspen grove.
The project, which is set to cause the mall to be closed to pedestrians until its estimated completion in the fall of 2025, is receiving mixed reviews on social media following its recent announcement.
