For one, there’s places like the Dark Horse in Boulder, which while it is still open today, is being planned to be demolished sometime soon.

Fortunately, the owners are absolutely planning on relocating the bar and restaurant for future people to enjoy.

However, other places aren’t so lucky.

For example, one of Fort Collins most beloved grounds and community staples, Hughes Stadium, was demolished in 2018 after the opening of the brand new on-campus field, Canvas Stadium.

While many people seem to enjoy Canvas, the stadium still drums up controversy, with many people preferring Hughes’ atmosphere and location.

In Fort Collins, though, another demolition has happened recently that many locals are going to be sad about.

Fort Collins has had a rich history when it comes to movie venues called The Lyric.

The first one popped up in 1915, and was a community hub for people all the way until the 1960s.

The current incarnation of The Lyric we know today began much more recently, back in 2007.

People who went there have fond memories of the place. It was a small theater that originally was purposed for dry cleaning, and it had a ton of character that people loved.

However, The Lyric moved in 2017 to its current location, which has been an absolute slam dunk choice. Although, news of the new location’s sale has drawn some eyes and worry in recent times.

With all of this being said, according to the Coloradoan, the site of the 2007 Lyric has been torn down recently. The property, which is owned by billionaire Pat Stryker, is supposedly going to be getting enhancements to the Lyric’s replacement, the Armory, which is a concert venue.

While it’s sad to see such a nostalgic building go in Fort Collins, it’s going to be very exciting to see what Stryker and the Bohemian Foundation will do with it moving forward.
