Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Inc., owners of the majority of the chain's 490 locations around the country, announced the anticipated closure of at least 70 locations at the end of February. Will these closures include locations in Colorado? What about the location in Grand Junction?

While specific information about which locations will close has not been released, Newsweek.com reports most of the locations that will close are considered to be underperforming locations nearing the end of their lease.

Red Robin Considers Closing 70 Restaurants

News of the closures at Red Robin follows an earnings report that showed a net loss of $39.7 million. While the company has identified about 70 underperforming locations to close in the next few years, they anticipate closing 10-15 stores soon. They have not released which locations at the time of this publication. News9.com estimates Red Robin employs around 21,000.

Red Robin is a local favorite in Grand Junction known for great food and several 'bottomless' menu options that make it easy to satisfy big appetites.

Red Robin Locations Currently Open in Colorado

Colorado is home to 21 Red Robin restaurants. 20 locations can be found on Colorado's Front Range, and just one on the Western Slope. Since Grand Junction is home to the only Red Robin restaurant in over 200 miles, the community hopes owners of Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Inc., will look elsewhere when it is time to announce official closures.
