Single Digits on the Western Slope

The 'Arctic Blast' of 2025 kept the Western Slope pretty chilly from Saturday, January 18th, through Tuesday, January 22nd. According to Weather.com, cities like Glenwood Springs, Grand Junction, Delta, and Montrose all spent nights at or below zero for four to five days when the ultra-cold air was in place over Colorado.

According to the record keepers, Grand Junction's all-time low temp occurred during two days of incredibly cold weather when the low reached -21 degrees on January 12th, 1963. The following night the temp would fall to -23 degrees, which is the coldest temp to date in Grand Junction, Colorado. The city's 5 all-time coldest temperatures according to ExtremeWeatherWatch.com are:

Shout-out to everyone keeping warm in Delta and Montrose this winter. Delta has endured a cold start to the year, experiencing single-digit lows for 8 of the last 14 nights. In Montrose, it snowed the last two weeks of December and did again during the recent January cold spell.

Montrose recorded the coldest temp of the three cities during the recent cold snap with a low of -5 degrees on January 20th, 2025.
