There are no rules in the Australian Outback, just right. This mindset was adopted by the chain of restaurants owned by Bloomin’ Brands known as Outback Steakhouse.

Here in Grand Junction, we love our Outback location for a great steak, a plate of Aussie fries, the blooming onion burger, or even a hearty plate of ribs. Sadly, Outback announced in February that several locations will close nationwide. Does this mean Coloradans are about to be disappointed?

Several Outback Steakhouse Restaurants Abruptly Close

According to CNN Business, Bloomin' Brands announced the closure of 41 restaurants in February, including several Outback Steakhouse locations. The company also operates Carrabba's Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill, and Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. Some locations were underperforming, while others had been open for 25 years or longer. The money needed to renovate those properties just isn't there.

Which Locations Will Close?

Bloomin' Brands has yet to release the full list of which 41 restaurants they will close across the country, so there is still a chance Colorado may lose some of our Outback Steakhouse restaurants in the coming weeks. According to Nation's Restaurant News, 33 of the 41 stores have already closed.

Colorado is down to just twelve Outback Steakhouse locations, so we have our fingers crossed that none of the locations in our state are about to be lost.
