Western Colorado is getting ready for the holidays. The communities of Grand Junction, Montrose, and Palisade have all announced their plans to host holiday parades which will be here before you know it.

Make your plans to gather the family curbside and watch the holidays come to life as the floats make their way down Main Street.

Grand Junction's Christmas Parade

Grand Junction's Christmas Parade will happen on Saturday, December 2nd, just after sundown. The theme for this year's parade downtown will be "Jurrasic Holiday". Remember that no parking is allowed on Main Street after 2 p.m. that day. Please park on a side street or in the parking garage on 4th and Rood. Find more info here.

Montrose Christmas Parade

Montrose, Colorado, will plan their Christmas Parade on the same day. The theme for the Montrose parade will be "Holly Jolly Wrangler," and the fun will start at 5:30 p.m. that day on Main Street. Find out more about holiday events in Montrose here.

Palisade's Christmas Parade

Enjoy Palisade, Colorado's Christmas Parade on Friday, December 1st from 5 to 6 p.m. Enjoy the parade of lights downtown, and keep an eye on the Colorado River as a few boats plan to float past the town decorated for the holidays as well. Palisade's parade will start after the lighting of the downtown Christmas Tree.

Some communities are still finalizing their plans. We expect to see details for events in Fruita and Delta coming soon.

LOOK: Grand Junction Christmas Light Displays of the 1940s

These decorations don't compare to the magnificent blue light display you'll see in the neighborhood in the northwest part of town. It was a different time. Even at that, there's something heartwarming about these 1948 decorations.

These are the best of the best of 1948. I regret I don't know which house placed first, second, etc. In the end, it doesn't matter. They're all great. Take a look at the gallery. Who knows? You might see a house you recognize. For that matter, you might see someone you recognize.
