When Coloradans go to the grocery store, they generally want to get it done as quickly and easily as possible. Things look like they are changing for the worse when it comes to King Soopers and a common item.

It's a situation where the criminals have won; King Soopers has to do what they need to as to prevent theft and mayhem. Honest customers now have to go through extra hoops to get things we need.

How many of their stores will be enacting this new policy?

For decades, at most stores, tobacco items have been only available from behind the counter. This is to not only prevent theft, but to make sure the person purchasing is old enough to. Here comes another obstacle at the grocery store.

Colorado King Soopers Locations Locking Up Laundry Detergent

You may have noticed that at King Sooper locations, such as one in Lakewood (below,) they've put the laundry detergents behind transparent locked doors.

It was in the summer of 2023, that a Colorado King Soopers employee was fired after intervening with people stealing several jugs of laundry detergent, valued at $500. Apparently, laundry detergent can be easily re-sold and doesn't spoil, so it's high on the list of theft items.

So, here we have at least one Colorado King Soopers joining a nationwide trend, by locking all the laundry away to prevent people from just walking out with it. Meanwhile, honest customers have to find someone to unlock a door to get what we need.
