There's a growing trend happening in colleges that Colorado parents may want to take note of. Your kids are there to learn, have fun, and experience new things; this is about the sex they're having.

There are a lot of college kids in Colorado that haven't had a lot of sexual partners before entering college. Regardless of their sexual history, however, college students are experimenting in "honey packets."

You probably haven't heard of them, here's what you need to know.

Honey Packets May Be Being Used at Colorado Colleges

Sometimes, I lament how I never did experience "the college life" in my youth; then, I hear stories like this and thank my lucky stars.

Honestly, it's not just kids in college that are in danger with "honey packets," it's all young people in that age group.

What Are 'Honey Packets' And Are Colorado Kids Using Them?

Bottom line, "honey packets" are a supplement used for sexual performance. I saw this story in USA Today about how college kids are "bragging" about using "honey packets" and how it has doctors concerned.

"Honey packets" are the kind of thing you can purchase at liquor stores, gas stations and truck stops (that gets you worried, already, right?) Apparently, for the most part, they contain innocent ingredients like ginseng, but many also contain stuff college kids probably do not need.

According to USA Today, a lot of "honey packets" contain the same medicinal ingredient that's found in Cialis (Tadalafil,) for those with erectile dysfunction- that's what puts doctors "on alert" about them.

From USA Today:

Tadalafil is an extremely potent treatment for erectile dysfunction − but it can have severe side effects, including death, when it interacts with other medications..

In addition, when you take a "honey packet" while drinking (which is highly likely for a college student,) your blood pressure could drop to the point that you pass out; you could even overdose on a [silly] "honey packet."

You may not want to talk about sex with your college kid, but.
