Having began in 1994, Big City Burrito in Northern Colorado will be going through some changes, including new ownership. They've been a local favorite for a long time, but maybe this is the boost it needs.

Well known for their very big, potato burritos, Big City Burrito opened on South College in Fort Collins in 1994, feeding hungry Downtown Fort Collins shoppers and workers as well as hungry CSU students.

Who are the new owners and what changes have they already made?

Big City Burrito in Colorado Makes Big Changes

It was officially announced in October of 2024, that in May of 2024, Big City Burrito had gotten new owners. New owners that bring a wealth of restaurant experience to the small chain.

The new owners are Don and Cleta Yamauchi, along with another partner. Don Yamauchi is a well-trained executive chef; he and wife Cleta have worked at more than a few restaurants and casinos.

The couple had their own restaurant in Sanibel Florida, but hurricane Ian in 2022 destroyed that dream. Later in 2022 Don became executive chef at a luxury resort in South Carolina.  Perhaps the thought of going through another hurricane brought the couple to Colorado.
