While many in Colorado may know of the Michelin Guide when it comes to recommended restaurants, they also now suggest hotels. Over a dozen in Colorado rank among the nation's best.
Here comes a list for travelers from out-of-state, as well as in-state; if you're looking for a "great" hotel, why not trust the Michelin people?

They are the "Michelin Keys," the hotels from all across America that rate as "the best." Michelin states that they've been working on a "refresh" of their hotel selection for four years, with 2024 being only the second year to include hotels from all over America, not just in select places.
What is the Criteria for Colorado Hotels to Make the Michelin Guide?
According to Michelin, there are five universal criteria when selecting hotels:
- Excellence in Architecture and Interior Design.
- Quality and Consistency of Service.
- Overall Personality and Character.
- Value for the Price.
- A Significant Contribution to the Neighborhood or Setting.

Good News and Bad News for Colorado with the 'Michelin Key' Ratings
The Michelin Guide recommends 5,000 hotels around the world, and notes the crème de la crème from that list to receive "Key" distinctions: Three keys:
- One Key: A very special stay.
- Two Keys: An exceptional stay.
- Three Keys: An extraordinary stay.
The good news: Colorado is among the "key" hotels. The bad news: None were recognized as a "Three Key" hotel.
