Early Monday morning, a woman was alerted by a member of her family that two men were attempting to break into her car parked out front of the house on Crown Ridge Lane in Southeast Fort Collins, somewhat near the intersection of Trilby and Lemay.

She decided to run outside to confront them, and when she did one of the suspects pulled a weapon out and shot at her multiple times, striking her in the leg as the two men fled on foot before police could arrive.

The responding officer treated the woman on scene until the ambulance arrived and transported her to the hospital to treat her injuries before since being released.

According to the press release from the Fort Collins police department, the suspects are described as two men wearing dark clothing, hoodies and backpacks, and they are asking for your help if you live in the area.

We are asking the community to check any home security cameras, doorbell cameras, or business surveillance footage for any suspicious activity, especially any individuals matching the suspects’ description, between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. from Sunday night into Monday morning.

The FCPD also is asking anyone who experienced an attempted break-in to their vehicle in the last couple of months to come forward as well. Oftentimes, people will see footage on a Ring doorbell camera or similar of someone checking to see if their car door is locked, or attempting to gain access to their vehicle unsuccessfully, and not report it to the police.

They ask that anyone who has experienced something similar after August 1 to contact them at (970) 416-2825 or email Detective Dollie Knab at tipsline@fcgov.com.
