The Mother-Son Dance is Coming to the Windsor Rec Center
There's just something about having a son. Daughters are amazing, of course, but being a mother to a son just hits different.
And it's true what they say: the days are long, but the years are short. My son, Cooper, just moved from Fort Collins to Arizona to work for an airline. He's wanted to be an airline pilot since he was 3, and I couldn't be more proud.
Now that he's off on his new adventure. And sadly, when I see events like the one that the Windsor Rec Center is putting on, I get sad because I just don't think an 18-year-old would want to come with me to the Mother-Son Dance, no matter how colicky he was as a baby, keeping me up so many nights that I literally went insane.
But I digress. This article isn't about me, and why my child is so ungrateful. It's for all you moms of boys out there who want to spend an evening making memories neither of you will forget.
So let me give you a rundown.
Windsor Rec Center Mother-Son Dance
On Friday, October 9th at 6:00 sharp, the Mother-Son dance kicks off, and this year's theme is adorable. The theme is "Decades Night". That means moms and sons can dress as their favorite decade, like the radical '90s or the super fly '70s.
There'll be music, fun activities, and light refreshments.
But let's be honest: you want to know where to take a selfie that everyone on the Facebook page will envy. Because even though you were yelling at your kid about saying the word "bruh" and how stupid it makes him sound not 10 minutes ago, no one has to know.
Just take the picture and caption it "my world".
Now here's the kicker. You can show up the night of, but you have to register both you and your child. You can do so by calling the Windsor Rec Center at (970) 674-3500.
So hold on tight while you can, because one day he won't even care that you were in labor for 42 hours and died twice bringing him into this world. Because while he's back in town visiting, his friends play poker on Friday nights, and he doesn't want to cancel for a Mother-Son dance.
It's fine. I'll just never jump on a trampoline again.
