Colorado's highest scoring factors went to the family fun and affordability rankings. Both of these factors ranked sixth place overall. Colorado's worst factor was the health and safety rank, which came in at 37.
The overall best state to raise a family in 2025 according to WalletHub was Massachusetts with a number one ranking in both education and childcare and affordability.
The worst state in the nation to raise a family shares a border with Colorado to the south. New Mexico ranked last with the worst scoring factor and the lowest ranking for education and child care.
