In some instances, bigger isn't always better. Such is the case for the country's smallest whisky tasting room, which can be found tucked away, high in the mountains of Colorado.

Minturn Whisky Co. is a sustainable, family-owned distillery nestled on the banks of the Eagle River, just south of Vail. Their rustic 153-square-foot tasting room, called the Wee Dram is anything but fancy, but that's part of its alluring charm. The size of the structure also makes it the smallest whisky bar in the country. Inside the tiny tasting room, the distillery provides a cozy and intimate spot to sip a whisky cocktail.

The Colorado-based distillery specializes in Scottish malt whisky. In order to create authentic, yet unique flavors, the whisky makers import peated barley straight from Scotland. The barley is then combined with pure Rocky Mountain snowmelt, and aged at altitude, for distinct whisky varieties with true Colorado flair.

A portion of all proceeds made at the tasting room are donated back to the Eagle River Coalition, which advocates for the health of Upper Colorado and the Eagle River watersheds.

The Wee Dram is located at 161 Main Street in Minturn. Check their website for hours, as they change seasonally.
