When high school football began two weeks ago, questions arose on how Western Colorado high schools would hold up while competing in new leagues.

So far, Palisade is the only Mesa County high school to have won a game, beating the Classical Academy last week 36-14. Fruita Monument and Central both lost their first games of the season, and Grand Junction is 0-2.

Outside of Mesa County, Delta and Montrose have both won at least one game so far this season. Delta is 1-1, and their only loss so far this season is against Montrose, who is 2-0.

Going into this weekend, Fruita Monument and Grand Junction have the chance to win their first game of the season, since the Wildcats play the Tigers in the traditional catfight game.
