Herd Of Sheep Covers Colorado Highway

Just when you think you've seen it all.

Look, here in Colorado, it shouldn't be too much of a surprise to see some wildlife on the road, crossing the road, etc. In fact, during my very first visit to Estes Park, I came across this guy hanging out in the road...

Now I have to admit, I was a little surprised to see this, but it was a pleasant surprise because that's just not something you see every day. Unless you live in Estes or go there in the heart of rut season as I did.

I've spotted some other wildlife on or near roadways over the past year and a half in various areas of Northern Colorado but I'll admit, I've never seen an entire herd of sheep pretty much covering an entire road until now, thanks to this video.

Sheep ranching is pretty common in various parts of the state and while this isn't a surprise to see for many, for me - this midwestern kid who spent the last almost 10 years of his life living in Seattle - this was quite the educational experience for me. And a pretty cool one at that.

Times like the one captured in the video are ranchers simply moving the herd from one pasture to another and sometimes they will do it on a road. If you ever come across a herd like this, take it slow, take your time so we can keep the sheep, sheepdogs, and ranchers all safe and able to do their job. Oh, and enjoy the view and the experience.
