In case you hadn't noticed, winter is on the way and it's time to find your winter coat - if you have one.

Unfortunately, not everyone has a good, warm winter coat. That may be hard to believe for some who have a closet full of various coats and jackets.

For the past few weeks, the Salvation Army in Grand Junction has been doing its annual coat drive for kids, teens, and adults. Every year, they distribute coats to those in need here in the Grand Valley

Here's the deal. The response to the coat drive has been fantastic, as folks in Grand Junction have been most generous as they typically are. However, the response to pick up coats and jackets has been a bit on the slow side.

The message needs to get out to those who don't have warm apparel for the winter. There are many coats and jackets still available. If you know of someone who might be in need, please do them a favor and let them know about the Salvation Army coat giveaway.

Coats can be picked up on Monday, Thursday, or Friday between 9am and 12pm,and 1pm and 5pm at the Salvation Army Food Assistance program building at 1155 N. 4th Street in Grand Junction.
